This genuine Isuzu diesel engine belongs to Isuzu’s renowned 4HK1 engine family, and is commonly fitted in JCB Tracked Excavators: JS 240 T3 (machine years 2007 – 2020) and JS 260 T3 series (machine years 1998 – 2021)
The 4HK1 engine was fitted to various machines such as Hitachi, Kawasaki, TCM, JCB, Hidromek, Case, CNH and Sumitomo.
The X designation stands for excavator, whilst the J stands for JCB in this case.
This engine is a direct swap for JCB excavators JS 240 and JS 260, and can be adapted to fit other brands by swapping parts from your original engine such as the flywheel housing and PTO blanking cover, oil pan and oil strainer and in some cases the cylinder head rocker cover, thermostat housing and heater line blanking plug require replacement. If using in a Sumitomo machine you will need to replace the fuel injectors.
