At Timik Engines, near Southampton in Hampshire, we specialise in remanufacturing quality diesel engines on-site. As proud members of the Federation of Engine Re-manufacturers, we ensure every engine meets the rigorous standards of BSI AU 257:2002, part of the British Standard Automobile Series.
The Perkins 1006.6T is a turbocharged 6-cylinder diesel engine delivering 6.0 litres of displacement through direct injection. Produced from 1986 to 1998, the 1006.6T brought significantly increased power output to the 1000 Series platform.
The addition of turbocharging transformed the engine’s capability, making it suitable for heavier agricultural machinery, mobile cranes, and demanding industrial applications. This engine powered Massey Ferguson tractors including the 3120, 3125, 3140, 3635, and 3645 models.
JCB adopted it for the Fastrac series, while it was also specified for mobile cranes, agricultural harvesters, industrial generator sets, and Phaser automotive, bus, and truck applications. The 1006.6T’s six-cylinder turbocharged configuration delivered strong power with good refinement.
Parts availability is strong through Perkins networks, and the engine’s proven design allows for rebuild to original specifications with genuine or quality aftermarket components. Post-assembly, each engine undergoes rigorous dynamometer testing, guaranteeing reliable operation under realistic conditions.
The engine block is bored back to standard with new liners fitted. The cylinder head is remanufactured with valve seats re-cut and new valves fitted. The crankshaft is ground to precise tolerances.
All engines are rebuilt in our clean workshop with new pistons and rings, bearings, oil pump, water pump, and complete gasket set. Fuel injection equipment is remanufactured and turbochargers replaced where applicable.
Every engine is dynamometer tested to confirm correct power output, oil pressure, and operating temperatures. Engines are painted and prepared for delivery with full documentation.
