At Timik Engines, near Southampton in Hampshire, we specialise in remanufacturing quality diesel engines on-site. As proud members of the Federation of Engine Re-manufacturers, we ensure every engine meets the rigorous standards of BSI AU 257:2002, part of the British Standard Automobile Series.
The Perkins 1004 and 1004T Long Block is available in both naturally aspirated and turbocharged configurations, offering 4.0 litres of displacement with direct injection. Manufactured from 1986 to 2004, these long blocks were supplied for both industrial and stressed-block applications.
The stressed-block configuration was designed to mount directly to tractor chassis and transmissions, with the engine block itself forming a structural component of the powertrain. These long blocks powered Massey Ferguson, Landini, and Case IH stressed-block tractors in agricultural applications.
Industrial variants were specified for forklifts, generator sets, compressors, and Vermeer wood chippers. The long block configuration includes the complete short block assembly plus the cylinder head, but excludes ancillary components such as the fuel injection pump, turbocharger (where fitted), and peripheral equipment.
This allows rebuilders to specify exact component requirements for their application. Post-assembly, each engine undergoes rigorous dynamometer testing, guaranteeing reliable operation under realistic conditions.
