Perkins Sabre M130C/M135C: Naturally Aspirated Marine Power

At Timik Engines, near Southampton in Hampshire, we specialise in remanufacturing quality diesel engines on-site. As proud members of the Federation of Engine Re-manufacturers, we ensure every engine meets the rigorous standards of BSI AU 257:2002, part of the British Standard Automobile Series.

The Perkins Sabre M130C/M135C Base Engine is a 6-cylinder marine diesel offering 6.0 litres of displacement with naturally aspirated induction and direct injection. Produced from 2000 to 2015, the Sabre M130C and M135C variants delivered 130-135 PS for marine propulsion.

Engine Features:

  • 6-cylinder naturally aspirated marine diesel
  • 6.0L displacement delivering 130-135 PS
  • Marinisation engineered for demanding saltwater environment
  • Smooth, reliable power for continuous marine operation
  • Proven Sabre platform with strong marine heritage

The Sabre marinisation incorporated specific components and engineering for reliable operation in the demanding marine environment. This base engine powered patrol boats, pilot boats, harbour launches, customs boats, commercial fishing vessels, crew launches, passenger carriers, lifeboats, and hire craft.

The naturally aspirated configuration provided smooth, reliable power delivery suitable for continuous marine operation. The base engine configuration provides the core engine assembly without marinisation components.

This allows marine engineers to add heat exchangers, cooling systems, and gearboxes to match specific vessel requirements. Post-assembly, each engine undergoes rigorous dynamometer testing, guaranteeing reliable operation under realistic conditions.

Remanufacturing Process

All our base engines are stripped and inspected, the fuel injection equipment is remanufactured, the engine block is bored, liners fitted and bored back to standard, Main bearing housing line honed, connecting rods honed and new bushes fitted, new pistons and rings fitted, crankshaft ground new bearings fitted, cylinder head is remanufactured having valve seats re cut and new valves fitted if necessary, a new oil pump and water pump fitted and all new gaskets fitted.

The engines are re assembled in our clean workshop using the correct procedures and tolerances.

The engine is then dynamometer tested for 4 hours and painted ready for delivery. We are a member of the federation of engine manufacturers, therefore our remanufactured engines are required to meet a certain standard under BSI AU 257:2002, set by British Standard Automobile Series code of practice.

The engine has 12 month warranty, this does not include removal or refitting of the engine, or renumeration or loss of earnings.

Our Perkins marine engines are built with genuine Perkins parts unless NLA or no genuine supply with Perkins at the time of build. Any non genuine parts used are from a company we have used for over 30 years.

The remove and refit service covers: We can remove and refit your marine parts, check through them (advise if any require replacement), paint strip, pressure test tubestacks, re o-ring, re-hose with new silicon hoses, dyno test and spray.

We will always recommend Jabsco raw water pump repair and header tank replacement, and any other marine parts including starter motor and alternator that are found beyond repair will also be quoted at this stage. We do not test senders/switches – these are quoted and can be replaced at the customer’s discretion.
