Re-Manufactured Ford TW25 Tractor Engine

160hp Turbocharged Six-Cylinder Power from Ford’s TW Series

Timik Engines supplies fully re-manufactured turbocharged diesel engines for the Ford TW25 tractor, part of Ford’s updated TW range introduced in 1983. The TW25 replaced the TW-20 in the revised lineup and was built at Ford’s Antwerp factory in Belgium.

One of the most notable changes from its predecessor was a significantly longer bonnet, giving the TW25 a more purposeful presence and greater presence on larger arable holdings. It sat above the TW-15 in the range and was aimed at operations requiring sustained high-horsepower output across large acreages. Production ran until 1989.

The TW25 was available in two-wheel and four-wheel drive configurations and suited to heavy cultivation, high-output arable contracting, and large-scale draught work. Its turbocharged 401 engine produced a substantial torque advantage over the naturally aspirated models lower in the Ford range, with peak torque arriving at 1,600rpm for strong pulling capability under load.

The Dual Power transmission offered 16 forward and 4 reverse gears, with on-the-move shifting between direct drive and a lower power mode for each ratio. At 160hp gross, the TW25 was a capable machine for its era and remains a sought-after rebuild candidate among operators running older large-acreage equipment.

The engine fitted to the Ford TW25 is the Ford 401 six-cylinder, liquid-cooled turbocharged diesel, displacing 6.6 litres with a square bore and stroke of 112 x 112mm. It is rated at 156hp (116.3kW) net and 160hp (119.3kW) gross at 2,200rpm, with a maximum torque of 575Nm (424 lb-ft) at 1,600rpm, a compression ratio of 15.6:1, and a firing order of 1-5-3-6-2-4.

Timik Engines re-manufactures this unit to full specification, restoring the block, cylinder head, crankshaft, turbocharger, and rotating assembly to original factory tolerances. Where a TW25 engine has accumulated significant hours or shows signs of wear, a fully re-manufactured unit is the most reliable and cost-effective route back to full working capacity.

Key Features of the Re-manufactured Ford TW25 Diesel Tractor Engine:

How we rebuild the Ford TW25 Engine

Step 01

Core Restoration

The engine block is bored back to standard with new liners fitted. The cylinder head is remanufactured with valve seats re-cut and new valves fitted. The crankshaft is ground to precise tolerances.

Step 02

Reassembly

All engines are rebuilt in our clean workshop with new pistons and rings, bearings, oil pump, water pump, and complete gasket set. Fuel injection equipment is remanufactured and turbochargers replaced where applicable.

Step 03

Quality Assurance

Every engine is dynamometer tested to confirm correct power output, oil pressure, and operating temperatures. Engines are painted and prepared for delivery with full documentation.

Engine as described from £4,800 + VAT
Block porosity treatment £350 + VAT (optional)

What is block porosity treatment?

Ford tractor engine blocks are prone to microscopic pores and casting voids that can allow coolant to seep into the oil over time. Block porosity treatment seals these voids using a vacuum impregnation process, where resin is drawn into any leakage paths and cured under pressure. This significantly extends engine life and reduces the risk of coolant contamination after rebuild. We recommend this treatment for all Ford engines where long-term reliability is a priority.

Exchange policy

All engines are supplied on an exchange basis. You send us your existing engine and we return a fully remanufactured unit. If you do not have a donor engine, contact us to discuss surcharge options.

Donor engine requirements

Donor engines must be complete (block, head, crankshaft, and major castings intact). Engines with severe damage may incur additional charges. Contact us before dispatch for assessment.
