Re-manufactured Ford 7810 Diesel Tractor Engine

Timik Engines supplies fully re-manufactured diesel engines specifically suited to the Ford 7810 tractor, one of Ford’s most commercially successful and enduring agricultural models.

Launched in 1987 and built at Ford’s Basildon factory in Essex, the 7810 was developed by fitting the six-cylinder 401ci (6.57L) naturally aspirated diesel into the proven chassis of the four-cylinder 7610.

The result delivered the same 100hp output as the larger 7910 in a significantly lighter package, giving farmers a combination of power and manoeuvrability that proved immediately popular.

The 7810 became one of Ford’s best-selling tractors of the era, at one point accounting for approximately 25% of all tractor sales in the UK. Its appeal rested largely on the character of the naturally aspirated six-cylinder engine, which was deliberately under-stressed, giving it exceptional longevity when properly maintained.

Available in two-wheel and four-wheel drive configurations, the 7810 handled the full range of arable and mixed farming duties, from heavy ploughing and cultivation to hay making, baling, and haulage.

In 1989, a special Silver Jubilee edition was released to mark 25 years of tractor production at Basildon, further cementing the model’s place in agricultural history. Production ended in 1991 when Ford sold its agricultural division to Fiat, leading to the formation of New Holland.

The engine fitted to the Ford 7810 is the Ford 401 six-cylinder, liquid-cooled naturally aspirated diesel, displacing 6.57 litres with a square bore and stroke of 112 x 112mm. It is rated at 100hp (74.6kW) net at 2,100rpm, with a maximum torque output of 399Nm (294 lb-ft) at 1,200rpm, a compression ratio of 17.5:1, and a firing order of 1-5-3-6-2-4.

Timik Engines re-manufactures this unit to full specification, restoring the block, cylinder head, crankshaft, and rotating assembly to factory tolerances. Where a 7810 engine has accumulated significant hours or shows signs of wear, a fully re-manufactured unit represents the most cost-effective and reliable route back to working condition.

Key Features of the Re-manufactured Ford 7810 Diesel Tractor Engine:

  • Six-cylinder naturally aspirated design, deliberately under-stressed for exceptional longevity.
  • 6.57L displacement with a square 112 x 112mm bore and stroke.
  • 100hp (74.6kW) net output at 2,100rpm.
  • 399Nm maximum torque at 1,200rpm.
  • Straightforward mechanical design, serviceable in the field.

How we rebuild the Ford 7810 Engine

Step 01

Core Restoration

The engine block is bored back to standard with new liners fitted. The cylinder head is remanufactured with valve seats re-cut and new valves fitted. The crankshaft is ground to precise tolerances.

Step 02

Reassembly

All engines are rebuilt in our clean workshop with new pistons and rings, bearings, oil pump, water pump, and complete gasket set. Fuel injection equipment is remanufactured and turbochargers replaced where applicable.

Step 03

Quality Assurance

Every engine is dynamometer tested to confirm correct power output, oil pressure, and operating temperatures. Engines are painted and prepared for delivery with full documentation.

Engine as described from £4600 + VAT
Block porosity treatment £350 + VAT (optional)

What is block porosity treatment?

Ford tractor engine blocks are prone to microscopic pores and casting voids that can allow coolant to seep into the oil over time. Block porosity treatment seals these voids using a vacuum impregnation process, where resin is drawn into any leakage paths and cured under pressure. This significantly extends engine life and reduces the risk of coolant contamination after rebuild. We recommend this treatment for all Ford engines where long-term reliability is a priority.

Exchange policy

All engines are supplied on an exchange basis. You send us your existing engine and we return a fully remanufactured unit. If you do not have a donor engine, contact us to discuss surcharge options.

Donor engine requirements

Donor engines must be complete (block, head, crankshaft, and major castings intact). Engines with severe damage may incur additional charges. Contact us before dispatch for assessment.
