All Perkins engines are built to order, please enquire for an idea of lead time. Prices are on an exchange basis. We require your old unit in return. If we do not have a suitable core available for rebuild, we will need to rebuild your own engine. All engines will be custom built to your spec, whether it has the industrial type block or stressed ("agricultural") block, top mount or side mount turbo options depending on your application.
The New 1000 Series represents one of Perkins' most significant engine families, produced for nearly 30 years and found in everything from JCB wheeled loaders to Massey Ferguson tractors, telehandlers, generators, and industrial equipment worldwide.
At the heart of the design is the patented Quadram combustion chamber – a four-lobe piston bowl that controls air motion within the cylinder for cleaner, more efficient combustion.
This technology delivered better fuel economy, reduced emissions, and quieter operation compared to the engines it replaced.
The range covers both four and six cylinder variants across three aspiration types:
Naturally aspirated (code letters AJ, AP, AR, AS for 4-cyl / YG for 6-cyl)
Turbocharged (AK, AQ for 4-cyl / YH for 6-cyl)
Turbocharged and intercooled (AM for 4-cyl / YK for 6-cyl)
Power output spans approximately 50kW to 130kW (67–175hp), making them suitable for a wide range of applications.
You'll find the New 1000 Series powering JCB loaders and telehandlers, Massey Ferguson tractors, Manitou material handlers, generator sets, compressors, irrigation pumps, and agricultural equipment from manufacturers including Landini and Vermeer.
Models follow a straightforward numbering system: 1004 denotes four cylinders, 1006 denotes six.
Suffixes indicate aspiration – T for turbocharged, TW for turbocharged with wastegate.
The engine block is bored back to standard with new liners fitted, cylinder head re-manufactured with valve seats re-cut and new valves fitted if necessary and crankshaft ground.
The fuel injection equipment is remanufactured and a reman turbo is also fitted (if applicable).
The engines are re-assembled in our clean workshop with new pistons and rings, bearings, oil pump, water pump, and all new gaskets fitted with all other components inspected and changed if necessary.
The engine is then dynamometer tested and painted ready for delivery.
We are members of the Federation of Engine Re-manufacturers.
Therefore our remanufactured engines are required to meet a certain standard under BSI AU 257:2002, set by British Standard Automobile Series code of practice.
