The Mermaid “Mistral” is a 6 cylinder, turbocharged heavy duty marine diesel engine, based on the reliable Ford “Dover” engine.
Timik Engines dynomometer test all their complete engines to ensure performance and finish them in Mermaid white anti corrosive paint.
As per Mermaid Marine Engines Ltd’s spec sheet:
This conservatively rated engine is the most suited for all commercial duties including fishing boats, workboats, patrol boats and military applications of all types, but may equally be applied to pleasure craft or charter boats where it’s long life will be of benefit. To meet the requirements of these varied applications the design incorporates the very latest diesel engine technology to minimise noise levels and exhaust emissions whilst maintaining a good power to weight ratio.
The engine features a specially matched water-cooled turbocharger to enable the exceptionally low fuel consumption to be achieved.
Each engine is hand built to the highest possible standards and incorporates a high efficiency, split flow fresh water cooling system utilising a high capacity heat exchanger and twin V drive belt for the fresh water circulating pump.
